The Burnham family
The family seem to be creatures of habit:
- They have the same routine everyday, Lester wakes up, puts on slippers, has a shower, goes to work..
- They listen to the same music at the dinner table everyday, we know this because the daughter questions the mother about why they listen to the same piece of music everyday.
We also know that the family used to be close:
- Lester mentions to his daughter that he wishes that they were close again
- A family photo in the kitchen shows the family looking very happy with Lester being in the "traditional family place"
The Mise on scene suggests a dullness of life:
- Lester has a very poor posture this could show that he does not care that much about his appearance
- The muted colours in the room show a dullness which could relate back to the dullness in Lester's life
- Everything is very neat maybe again relating to the dullness as nothing is being used, more time spent cleaning making everything look perfect
The man in the garden
- Quite odd looking
- Interested to know why he is there
